Frequently Asked Questions

ANSWER: TracTive BV warranty covers all non motorsport TracTive suspensions for a period of 24 months from the date of manufacture. For full details on Warranty Cover & Procedure please see official statement from TT BV.

If you mainly use your car for road use, we recommend you service your shocks approximately every 60,000 km. If you are  a heavy user, your shock absorbers are very happy, and are being used for what they were built for, however you will need to service them more regularly. We recommend every 30,000 km

Recommended service interval for Motorsport applications is every season, or every 50 hours or after any perceived loss in performance.

ANSWER: Once you place an order through one of our official UK Dealers, your kit will go into production and will usually be ready in 4-6wks before being shipped. If your particular kit is already in stock, they normally ship within days.

TracTive UK uses DHL as our UK Distribution and European Shipping Agents and once your kit is ready it usually arrives at their destination within 3 days. No Custom charges are payable, just UK VAT is payable at 20% and shipping costs

ANSWER: Our Plug & Play suspensions are precisely that. Unplug your OEM dampers and plug in TracTive to retain full functionality of your PASM system or your BMW with M-EDC, Nissan GTR etc etc.

You no longer have to compromise grip, comfort and originality by deactivating your OEM developed electronic systems and be limited to “passive” aftermarket suspension systems sold by alternative suspension manufacturers.

ANSWER: By opting for our Standalone option, we offer our own electronic TracTive Control Unit – similar in principle to PASM / PDCC, but more sophisticated. Offering a much broader damping spectrum and offering the world’s fastest patented DDA valve, able to adjust each damper in just 6-10ms! Choose between controlling your suspension through our TFT touchscreen display or 5-way programmable rotary dial positioned inside your car.

ANSWER: Although it’s true, TracTive was originally conceived through its many successes, being the world’s 1st with engineering solutions across various forms of Motorsport – MXGP, MotoGP, F1 and extreme Endurance racing. Although we still offer high-end solutions for both car and motorcycle racing, it is everything we learnt and developed from racing that has allowed us to produce the road suspensions we now offer. Giving world class compliance and rolling road ride quality and confidence through increased grip levels, but also the chassis control you crave when you want to push the limits into and out of corners and out on track.

ANSWER: We produce electronic systems in Plug & Play options that give a beautifully resolved solution for road comfort and performance for fast road and track. In Standalone, we give you the control to set-up and choose between 5 different suspension modes with an incredibly wide damping spectrum to cover every driving scenario and road condition whilst on the move.

ANSWER: We offer Touring Line options developed to utilise OEM top mounts and matched Eibach springs for class leading ride quality and Road/Track options with Motorsport uniball/camber top mounts and ERS (Eibach Racing Springs), for drivers looking for total focus and feedback.

ANSWER: TracTive are the OEM providers for Pagani, including their latest Limited Edition €2.15m Utopia, RUF’s  CTR and SCR creations, Dallara Stradale and EXP, Donkervoort’s latest F22, Ford Bronco (Kincer Chassis), development partners for BMW’s S1000RR, XR and R to name a few.

ANSWER: We also manufacture manually adjustable One-Way (20 clicks rebound & compression) and Three-Way suspension options (manual adjustment for rebound / compression, remote reservoirs with high & low speed compression adjustors), used mainly for racing, where electronic suspensions are not allowed in the regulations.

ANSWER: Pitch is the rotation of the vehicle about the transverse axis. Roll is the rotation of the vehicle about the longitudinal axis. For example: the spring extension of the front – spring and compression at the rear when the vehicle is moving off.

For GT models, owners can order the TracTive Touring Line spec and re-use the existing top mounts, thus keeping their car’s originality. This is also true for older 964 and 993 RS models as we have developed specific kits for these cars.

ANSWER: One-way manually adjustable dampers offer 20 clicks of adjustment, which will adjust both rebound and compression damping. Each application is custom valved and optimised for the best performance and depending on application.

Three-way system has independent adjustment of rebound and low and high-speed compression damping. External reservoirs increase fluid capacity to ensure lower operating temperatures when competing in endurance racing. These reservoirs can be remotely situated, piggy-backed or mounted inline. With this system you will experience blistering reaction times, improved bump absorption and a massive increase in grip that will give you the confidence to push your car to its absolute limits.

ANSWER: To dampen wheel and body movements, the motion of the vehicle is accurately monitored in the following vehicle axes: vertical, lateral and longitudinal.

Using the longitudinal G-Force, the ACE system is able to determine whether the vehicle is accelerating, braking or moving at a constant velocity.

During excessive braking, the vehicle would normally see a forward pitching motion. When these G-Forces are detected by TracTive’s Control Unit (TCU), this pitching motion can be counteracted by increasing front damper stiffness in just 6-10ms.

Based on the G-Force rate and/or the absolute G-Force, it can be determined how much increase or decrease in damping is required for optimum wheel and body control. The same applies for sudden accelerations, depending on the application, either a stiffer or softer damper is required to gain maximum grip to the driven wheels. This is controlled by using longitudinal G-Force together with the control algorithm programmed in the TCU.

By combining both longitudinal and lateral G-Force, actual driving situations can be extracted from the sensor data. Different damper behaviour can be set for all kinds of combinations. For instance – going through the same corner at the same speed, getting on the brakes or accelerating, you would see infinitely different damper settings for all individual wheels. This is how the ACE system increases safety, grip, control and predictability, giving you more confidence to enjoy your car.

Manual Adjustment Technology Explained

One-Way manually adjustable
TracTive One-Way dampers are based on the knowledge obtained while developing the ACE systems. The dampers are built using the same high-end components as all other TracTive products and offer 20 clicks of adjustment, which will adjust both rebound and compression damping. Each application is custom valved and optimised for the best performance.

Three-Way manually adjustable
The Three-Way system is a no-compromise, race-developed suspension system with independent adjustment of rebound and low- and high-speed compression damping. External reservoirs increase fluid capacity to ensure lower operating temperatures when competing in race events. These reservoirs can be remotely situated, piggy-backed or mounted inline. With this system you will experience blistering reaction times, improved bump absorption and a massive increase in grip that will give you the confidence to push your car to its absolute limits and beyond, while still keeping you safe.

Electronic Semi-Active Damping Explained

ACE Active Controlled Electronics
Our standalone ACE systems gives you independent damping control. You can adjust roll and pitch interference for stable braking, controlled corner entry and after hitting the apex precisely, a better acceleration out of the corner. Curbstones and road undulations are perfectly managed by each individual damper.

Inside each ACE damper is our patented Dynamic Damping Adjustment (DDA) valve. This DDA valve is controlled by a sensitive multi-axis g-sensor and advanced algorithms developed from decades of racing and road testing. A dynamic proportional valve operating as a bypass has capacity for a large range of damping adjustment, and is capable of responding within only 6-10ms.

TracTive DDA, the world’s fastest valve!
Considering the human brain reacts within 150ms, you realise what a gamechanger the TracTive ACE system is compared to all conventional suspension systems.

ACE has the intuitive ability to react to changing road surfaces and conditions. Bumps and compressions are absorbed before you have the chance to notice them. Especially on track through a series of high-speed curves this makes it possible to hold the line without deflection.

Grip levels in all conditions are vastly improved, maximising each tyres contact patch. This gives you the ability to push your car to limits you wouldn’t have thought possible, maintaining safer driving. Electronic damper settings are completely adjustable on your touchscreen, ranging from full road compliance to controlled aggression on track. This is all within reach for you as the driver through the touchscreen display. Five individual settings can be saved which allows you change the setup of the car within seconds.

R-ACE Active Controlled Electronics
R-ACE combines all the benefits of the ACE technology with the addition of secondary low- and high-speed compression adjustments, which are tuned for the application and motorsport discipline.

The low- and high-speed compression damping adjusters can fine-tune damper characteristics to find the perfect balance for individual track setup, driver preferences and race pace improvements. The compression adjusters can be located remotely, piggy-backed or mounted in-line with the dampers.

As the name suggests, R-ACE is best suited for extreme race and endurance applications. R-ACE is the very pinnacle of what is currently possible using knowledge gained from decades of racing at the highest level and electronic controlled damping reacting in a few milliseconds.

Plug & Play
When your car is originally equipped with electronic controlled damping or not, we are able to offer you a Plug & Play upgrade or a completely standalone kit, both for ACE and R-ACE systems.
